audi tt roadster oil pressure warning light

Can anyone help me? the oil pressure warning light came on as i was driving yesterday, i stopped the car added oil , but then a noise came from the engine , i drive a 2004 tt roadster 1.8t, does anyone know if this is a serious fault , and if its a expensive one, or how can i resolve the problems
