Hello,
i replaced timing and water pump on my 99 audi a6 2.8 (100k miles). After about 2 weeks my coolant tee broke, so i replaced. The same coolant tee broke again after 2 days. Before, normal temperature stays at 190-200F level. Now about 230F. Is my car overheating? Should i be driving it? Any suggestion on finding problem? I can smell antifreeze all the time. Thanks

Tue, August 7, 2007 - 5:28 PMRed antifreeze was mixed with green by accident, when water pump was replaced. Would this cause overheating? Thanks

Re: 99 Audi A6 overheating
Tue, August 7, 2007 - 7:14 PMIm not sure...regardless you want the audi specific coolant, i used pentosin brand (original fill) coolant...this may not be the cause of your overheating but it could cause other problems later...the smell of antifreeze suggest your have a leak...and would have a mechanic check for leaks..What is a "coolant tee" > make sure that the engine cooling fans are also workin propely, I think one of them is actually powerd by the pressure in the cooling system..switch to red coolant. follow directions for mixing with water..50/50

my audi is running less than 250 degrees here in South Texas where the heat index has been up to 101 lately..250 is not "overheating" but if you think it should be less than it prolly should.... -
